How does one, uh, revitalize a trunk spring?

So I gots this Eldorado. It has two springs to hold the trunk open. I’m guessing that the addition of the wing (don’t think it was factory in 1994) and age has made it so a gentle breeze will now bring the trunk slamming down. The springs don’t hold

Can I do something about that with the current springs, or do I have to try to source new ones? They’re already at their strongest setting

Well yeah

But Eldorado’s aren’t exactly around much these days and I’d probably be very hard-pressed to find one with the factory spoiler (and I’d assume higher-rate springs for the added weight)

You never know until you go. Since it’s GM, there’s probably another car with the same parts.

I’m assuming it’s torsion rods? Are there multiple positions on one side?

Even if you can’t find the correct springs at a wrecking yard, you might get some that’ll work off something else with a bigger/heavier trunk lid, even some hoods maybe. Not really sure what your springs look like.

Nope, cool springs. And there are multiple slots but they’re at their furthest already
